Join Mai at One Yoga for her upcoming workshop--Create Your Own Avatar: A Workshop to Inspire Life Change

This exciting workshop brings a playful energy to the act of redesigning your life. Is there a new direction you'd like to take? Do you have a project you've been putting off? Try this workshop to jumpstart your shift. It's possible that you're stuck in your old story about who you are.

This workshop is intended to help inspire you to create a new identity for yourself. It will allow you to expand how you see your potential and will help you make the life changes that are necessary to start moving in a new direction.

This workshop is broken down into two, 2 hour sessions; Saturday, April 4th and 11th at 3PM. The first session will include a talk on identity and creating life changes. Then we will spend the remainder of that session creating our Avatar through collage.

In the second session you will bring in your Avatar to complete your design. There will be time at the end of the session to share what we have learned and what our goals are for our new life direction. Lastly, we will take time to meditate and seal our intentions.

Investment: $60 for complete workshop

Please Bring: Magazines to share for collaging, and a pair of scissors for yourself. We will supply the Avatar boards and adhesive

Join Mai in Downtown Minneapolis for her performance art piece--Loving Presence

In today's life we are so busy running from one thing to the next that we rarely even look each other in the eye. We spend our lives judging ourselves and others. We are disconnected and adrift. We are often aliens, even to ourselves.

Mai Rose is dedicated to reminding people of their human birthright, to be seen and heard fully. She has created a performance art piece where she will sit and accept a single person at a time to come and be seen and heard. Each person that sits with Mai will have the opportunity to share whatever they feel they need to share. Each person will get 20 minutes with Mai. Her piece will last from sunrise to sunset on May 23rd, 2020, rain or shine.

Mai is a writer and artist who has dedicated her life to cultivating an open heart and a child-like exuberance for discovery and passion. She has spent years researching suffering and how to live more fully. She has studied Buddhism, Taoism, Stoicism, Sociology, Psychology, and Self Development. It is through her extensive research and inner work that she has created a holistic vision that she is honored to share with you. Please take the pieces that work for you, and leave the rest. Her work is not meant to be static and complete, but it is a living, breathing work of art.

Mai's Personal Story

Life can be a miracle disguised as a tragedy.

I was born to a mechanic and a homemaker in the heart of the Midwest. When I was three years old my father had a tragic accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury. He lost his memory and broke nearly every bone in his body. Our family lost everything: our income, our home, our social standing, and our community.

This was my first experience with the challenges that life can bring.

Because my father could no longer work, poverty became a way of life. The family moved around from community to community, often living in abandoned and run down homes. We survived by living off the land and government assistance. Sometimes we didn’t even have running water.

But when life is rough you learn to hustle.

I learned the meaning of hard work and determination by watching my parents’ devotion to each other and to our family. It has served me well while dealing with homelessness, poverty, post traumatic stress disorder, illness, divorce, and blindness.

Yet life has offered me great joy and success.

I have studied at Drake University and the University of Minnesota; from Theater and English to Sociology and Communications. I have performed as an actress, waited tables, sang in bands, worked in corporate America, ran a small business, managed a nonprofit, raised a child, and coached people through life changes. For the last twenty years I have also studied mindfulness techniques and personal growth skills that have helped transform my life and heal my past.

All of these experiences make me uniquely qualified to offer you support on your journey. I’m not saying I have all the answers, but I can keep you from having to reinvent the wheel.

Currently, I reside in Minneapolis, Minnesota where I offer one-on-one coaching, workshops, and performances to bring life changing skills and inspiration to all who seek it. I am excited to share my gifts with you.
